Nuneaton and Bedworth News Schools during 2021 (COVID-19)
After reading through the forums over the last few days, it’s come to our attention that a popular topic seems to be our children going to school during this pandemic.
No one knows the right or wrong answer to this, which is why our community is coming together to get across their views and opinions of the matter.
One of the main concerns among many parents is the safety of our children. Is it safe for our children to go back to school?
Many cannot stress enough as to why our children are allowed to go to school whilst we are in tier 4, yet in London schools have closed who are also in tier 4. It’s clear why there is confusion.
The schools should close to prevent further spread. The children may not have symptoms or suffer the way adults do but they are more likely to carry the virus and pass it on.
Not only are the safety of our children important but also the safety of the school staff, who then go home carrying the germs they have acquired from 30/60 different children throughout the school day. Education is important yes, but so is the health and safety of our children and their families.
Laura Armitage – Bedworth
I’m in two minds. Mentally the kids need to be back in normality/routine and I don’t think they are at risk in anyway. Trouble is they are spreading it like wild fire and bringing it back to the most vulnerable.
Debbie Ryan – Bedworth
After speaking to a few of the parents in Bedworth it seems to me one of the main concerns is how are schools able to maintain the virus amongst so many children.
Although the bubbles and social distancing measures are in place it doesn’t seem to have full control on the spread within schools.
Although many of the children’s symptoms are none existent they are then potentially carrying it to our most vulnerable.
Another popular topic seems to be the fines set in place by the government and local authorities if you refuse to send your children to school. As a parent or guardian, it should we be with in our right to decide if we believe it’s safe for our own children to be in school or not.
I think it’s disgusting that we don’t get a say
Leanne Stringer – Nuneaton
Surely as parents and guardians we should have the right to make this decision?
As parents, we should be the ones to decide in these unprecedented times, wether or not to send our children to school. Our children’s safety are our responsibility, and if our children do not fall into the vulnerable category then we as parents should be given the option to keep our children at home, with the understanding that they will continue with school work, and without the threat of being fined to add to our worries.
Laura Armatage – Bedworth
I think it should be our choice to send or not send our children. However I do think if staying at home work should be completed with online help from teachers, they need to make it as simple as they can.
Kerry Edwards – Bedworth
Throughout Nuneaton and Bedworth schools have been discussing if it is safe for them to reopen for all pupils whilst the infection rate is so high.
All saints in Bedworth have announced today that they will be closing and only open to children of key workers and vulnerable children until further notice.
Race Leys Juniors in Bedworth will remain open for all children. All saints in Nuneaton also remains open and will welcome their pupils back tomorrow 5th January.
So as it stands although we all have our opinions do we really have a say? We will see what tonight’s government announcement brings at 8pm.
No we don’t have a say I aint sending mine i am not willing to put my kids life in danger
